Dorsey’s Search is one of the newer villages here in Columbia, Maryland. Established in 1980, Dorsey’s search consists of two neighborhoods, Dorsey Hall and Fairway Hills. Since then, Dorsey’s Search is continually growing and currently has around 7,500 residents.
Dorsey Hall, the first neighborhood in the village, was named after the Dorsey Hall Manor House, which was built by the Dorsey family in the early 1700's. The Village's street names were selected from the collection of Oliver Wendell Holmes' poetry.
Fairway Hills is named for the former Allview Golf Course, but now Fairway Hills has its own golf course, Fairway Hills Golf Club.
Dorsey Hall is comprised of single-family homes, condominiums and townhouses. While Fairway Hills is comprised of townhouses, condominiums and apartment complexes.
What Makes Dorsey's Search Unique?
- Dorsey's Search Village Center - contains a community center, Linden Hall, as well as a grocery store, restaurants, and other retail establishments. Linden Hall is named for the Linden Tree in the poem, "Musa," by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
- Fairway Hills Golf Club - is an 18-hole par 70 golf course located in the neighborhood of Fairway Hills. It opened in 1995.
- Historic Ellicott City - minutes away by car, hosts a B&O Railroad Museum and Civil War trails.
